Oasis announce summer stadium shows for 2009

Story by Jack Foley

OASIS have announced details of a UK summer stadium tour for 2009, including two nights at London’s Wembley Stadium in July.

The gigs were unveiled at a special photo call and press conference at Wembley, when band leader Noel Gallagher hosted a question and answer session at the English football stadium.

Oasis will play a total of eight shows, including two special hometown gigs at Manchester’s Heaton Park.

Support will come from Kasabian and The Enemy.

In typically confident fashion, Gallagher predicted that the shows “are going to be the gigs of next year, if not the decade for a certain demographic”, adding: ,“These are the gigs that people remember, they meet future wives.”

Oasis will play the following shows:

June 2009
6 & 7 – Manchester Heaton Park
10 – Sunderland Stadium Of Light
12 – Cardiff Millennium Stadium
17 – Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium
20 – Dublin Slane Castle

July 2009
11 & 12 – London Wembley Stadium

Tickets for the shows go on sale on October 24 at 10am. Read our review of Oasis’ latest album, Dig Out Your Soul
