One Night Only announce May tour dates (2008)

One Night Only

Story by Jack Foley

FOLLOWING their huge single Just For Tonight, their top 10 debut album Started A Fire, and a sold out tour from January to March, North Yorkshire five-piece One Night Only have announced a new headline tour for May.

The band will play nine dates in total, kicking off in Wrexham on May 7 and including a night at London’s ULU on May 20.

In addition, the band has also been confirmed to support The Kooks at their NME Awards show on February 25.

One Night Only have been touring throughout 2007, supporting the likes of The Pigeon Detectives, The Enemy, The Coral and The Rifles. They’ve now stepped out of the shadows and are picking up legions of fans of their own up and down the country.

Their second single, Just For Tonight stormed the charts on release at the end of January and debuted at No.9.

Formed in 2003, when singer George was just 12, One Night Only started out as a bunch of school friends “just making noise” in their rural hometown of Helmsley, North Yorkshire.

They went on to spend the following two years tearing the vaulted roof off the local scene before Steve Lamacq began spinning the demo of You And Me in October 2006, prompting the band to start taking themselves seriously.

The teenagers quickly became subject of a fierce A&R battle and signed to Vertigo, home of The Killers and Razorlight, in March 2007.

One Night Only are: George Craig (vocals/guitar), Mark Hayton (guitar), Sam Ford (drums), Dan Parkin (bass) and Jack Sails (keyboards).

The May tour dates are (all 2008):
8 – Garage, Glasgow
9 – University, Northumbria
12 – Leadmill, Sheffield
13 – Academy 2, Manchester
14 – Waterfront, Norwich
18 – Lemon Grove, Exeter
19 – University, Southampton
20 – ULU, London
23 – Kasbah, Coventry

Tickets cost £9 (except London, £11).
