Paul Anka joins Tower Musical Festival line-up

Paul Anka

Story by Jack Foley

ONE of the biggest teen idols of the late ’50s, Paul Anka, has been added to the line-up for this year’s Tower Music Festival at the historic Tower of London.

The singer, who recently released the Rock Swings LP featuring swing versions of tracks by bands like Nirvana, will play the venue on Wednesday, July 11.

Anka has recorded 125 albums to date including over 10 albums in Japanese, German, Spanish, French, and Italian. He has sold close to 15 million albums worldwide.

Among his Billboard chart stats in the US are three number 1 songs, Diana, Lonely Boy and You’re Having My Baby as well as 22 Top 20 hits.

He is particularly well-known for penning signature songs for others, notably It Doesn’t Matter Anymore (Buddy Holly), She’s a Lady (Tom Jones), Puppy Love (Donny Osmond) and, of course, My Way (Frank Sinatra).

The Tower gig will enable fans to get a preview of tracks from his new album – due out later in the year – called My Way: Swings & Strings.
