Pendulum and Zane Lowe announce Crisis Hidden gig

Story by Jack Foley

ZANE Lowe, Pendulum (pictured) and Chase & Status are all playing DJ sets at the forthcoming Crisis Hidden Gigs on June 17, 2009. They will also be supported by a live performance from The Bays.

The gig will take place in central London but the actual venue will remain a secret until 24-hours before the event.

International DJ Zane Lowe and Australian drum and bass band Pendulum will play exclusive DJ-sets to raise not only money for Crisis but also awareness of the tens of thousands of hidden homeless people in the UK.

Ticket holders will also be able to enjoy a DJ-set from break-beat act Chase & Status and live improvisers The Bays.

Talking about the forthcoming gig Zane Lowe said: “There is a perception of homelessness that needs to change. I don’t think many people are aware of how a quick change of circumstance can make living on the street or in a shelter a reality. Crisis do great work to help people in this situation and these Hidden Gigs are a part of that. They asked and I’m there.”

Crisis Hidden Gigs is a series of London-based events throughout May and June and are a fantastic opportunity to see top acts in intimate, unusual spaces, making for a unique musical experience.

The big twist is that the venues will remain hidden until 24 hours before the gig, when a text or email message will be sent to the ticket holders revealing its location.

By withholding details until the last minute, Crisis aims to raise awareness of the precarious situation facing hidden homeless people, who often don’t know where they will end up each night and are often forced to move from place to place.
