THE BIGGEST girl band in the world, Pussycat Dolls, and Barbados’ singing sensation, Rihanna, have recently announced that they will be touring together in the UK later this year.
Currently two of the hottest acts around, Pussycat Dolls debut album, PCD, has sold four million copies worldwide, including an incredible one million in the UK; while Rihanna’s second album, A Girl Like Me, has now gone platinum in the UK.
And sales of singles over the last year have been equally impressive, with the Dolls having had two number one hits – Don’t Cha and Stickwitu – as well as two top three singles – Beep and Buttons.
Rihanna too has enjoyed chart success this year – with SOS, Unfaithful and her debut single Pon De Replay which was taken from her one million selling debut album, Music of the Sun. All three singles hit the number two spot.
Rihanna has also made her film debut this year with a cameo role in Bring It On 3 which has recently been released on DVD. Meanwhile, the Pussycat Dolls have spent the last few months supporting the Black Eyed Peas in Asia, Australia, Europe and America.
Both the Dolls and Rihanna have new singles out soon – I Don’t Need A Man from the Pussycat Dolls will be released on September 25, 2006; and We Ride from Rihanna on October 23, 2006.
