Story by Jack Foley

RAGE Against The Machine have announced details of a free gig in London as a way of saying thanks for helping them secure last year’s Christmas No.1 in the UK charts.

The Californian rockers will fulfill their promise by playing a concert at London’s Finsbury Park on Sunday, June 6, 2010.

Tickets for the 40,000 capacity event will be distributed via a lottery system and fans have until midnight on Sunday, February 14 (Valentine’s Day) to register their details for the ballot. Visit TheRageFactor to register to be in with a chance.

Guitarist Tom Morello announced the date on Radio 1, stating: “We promised to play a free show if our song was No.1 at Christmas and here we come… We were very happy that our song was a vehicle for what was truly a grassroots people’s revolution.”

Rage Against The Machine’s Killing In The Name beat X Factor winner Joe McElderry to the Christmas top spot following a Facebook campaign started by music fans Jon and Tracy Morter in rebellion against X-Factor’s recent festive chart dominance.
