Story by Jack Foley

KASABIAN and Lostprophets have been added to The ShockWaves NME Awards Shows 2007, joining a line-up that already includes Regina Spektor, Amy Winehouse and Maximo Park.

Kasabian head to Hammersmith Palais on February 13 with Welsh outfit Lostprophets headlining their own sweat-fest at London’s Astoria on February 15.

Also confirming shows are Babyshambles, who play London Brixton Carling Academy on February 18, and Thamesbeat raggamuffin Jamie T, who rounds off this year’s shows by playing Hammersmith Palais on March 2.

Kasabian guitarist, Serge Pizzorno, declared: “I love that venue, everyone is right on top of you. We’ve done a few of those shows. They’re always wild, NME nights, people hanging off the roof and going bonkers. It should be good fun.”

With a full support bill to be announced soon, Serge added that he enjoyed the communal spirit of the shows.

Lostprophets are also excited about being added to the shows line-up, as singer Ian Watkins commented: “It’s going to be the first time playing new material, so we’re excited about that. We really want to have an album out by the end of next year.

“It’s a bit more punk rock. We don’t want to take ages over the album like last time. So the shows are going to be really exciting.”

Tickets go on sale on January 11 and are available exclusively for a 48-hour period from www.nme.com/gigs. In addition, 50p from every ticket sold will go to global-warming initiative Global Cool.
