SIR Paul McCartney has announced two Christmas “homecoming” concerts in Liverpool and London.

The former Beatle will be joined by his band at the Hammersmith Apollo and Liverpool Academy for shows and promises an “intimate vibe”.

In a statement, Sir Paul said: “Christmas is the perfect excuse for everyone to let their hair down and rock out.”

The Liverpool show on December 20 will mark Sir Paul’s first appearance in the city since 2008 and will be preceded by the Hammersmith show on Saturday, December 18 – a venue he first played with The Beatles way back in December 1964.

Commenting on the timing of the concerts, Sir Paul went on to say: “I always love playing to a home audience and for me it’s the perfect way to end the year. We’ve had great fun with the stadium shows this year and we’re looking forward to the more intimate vibe of these ones.

“Christmas is the perfect excuse for everyone to let their hair down and rock out. We are looking forward to celebrating with the good people of London and Liverpool.”

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Wednesday, December 8, and are limited to four per person. London’s tickets are: stalls standing £60; circle reserved seat £125 & £100; rear circle standing £50.
