Story by Jack Foley

SMASHING Pumpkins have announced a UK Arena tour for February 2008, including a night at London’s O2 Arena.

Billy Corgan’s band have already made a rapturous return to the live arena with a number of shows across North America and Europe in 2007.

And Kerrang! described their Paris show as “stunning” and they also received unanimous praise for their Shepherd’s Bush Empire show that sold-out immediately.

The 2008 tour dates are (all February):

12 – Glasgow SECC
14 – Nottingham Arena
15 – Manchester MEN Arena
16 – London O2 Arena

Tickets – costing £30 (except London, £32.50) – go on sale on Friday, November 16 at 12 noon.

As a band Smashing Pumpkins have created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in music history.

Formed in Chicago in 1988, they released Gish, their influential (and platinum) debut in 1991, which was followed by more platinum and multi-platinum albums including Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness and Siamese Dream.

The pivotal group’s many hits include Disarm, Today, Cherub Rock, 1979, Tonight, Tonight and Bullet With Butterfly Wings – songs that defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate, influencing a whole new generation.
