SMASHING Pumpkins will name their forthcoming new album Zeitgeist, accordinf to their Myspace site.

The eagerly anticipated long-player will mark the band’s first since 2000’s MACHINA/The Machines Of God and is set for a US release on Saturday, July 7, so that the release can be presented as 07.07.07.

It will also mark seven years to the day since the release of MACHINA.

The current line-up for the Pumpkins features only two original members, Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin. The remaining members are unknown.

To coincide with the album’s release, Smashing Pumpkins have also announced a number of tour dates, including two more European festival dates this summer, in Austria and Switzerland.

Fans can now catch them at the following venues on the following dates (all June 2007)...
