Supergrass announce April tour dates (2008)

Supergrass

Story by Jack Foley

SUPERGRASS have just announced a new batch of UK tour dates in April, including a night at London’s Astoria.

The 10-date jaunt is in addition to the four gigs they have previously announced for March, when the band will also be visiting London’s legendary Roundhouse venue.

And they will be in support of the new album, Diamond Hoo Ha, which is out on March 24.

The dates are (all April 2008):
11 – Birmingham Carling Academy
12 – Glasgow ABC
13 – Northumbria University
15 – Nottingham Rock City
16 – Leeds Met University
17 – Lincoln Engine Shed
18 – Manchester Academy 2
20 – Bristol Carling Academy
21 – Norwich UEA
22 – London Astoria

Tickets for the gigs cost £17.50 (except London, £19.50).

Diamond Hoo Ha was recorded at the legendary Hansa studios and produced by Nick Launay (Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nick Cave). It’s Supergrass’s sixth studio album and is described as a collection of raucous rock ‘n roll songs that are glitzy and glam as they are punchy and gritty.

Adds frontman Gaz: “We wanted a record where you got all of Supergrass – the joy, the intensity, the darkness, the melodies. All of those have always been important to us and still are.”
