Take That's Circus hits million sales mark (2008)

Take That

Story by Jack Foley

CIRCUS, the latest album from Take That, will have sold more than a million copies by the end of Friday (December 19), according to the Official Charts Company.

The album had sold just over 990,000 copies by the end of Thursday and was on course to beat the landmark sales figure on only its 19th day in the shops.

The figures mean that Circus is officially 2008’s second biggest selling album behind Duffy’s Rockferry, which has now reached 1.5 million since its release in March.

In terms of speed of sales, however, Circus is second only to Oasis’ Be Here Now in reaching the million mark. The Oasis LP managed it in just 11 days!

Commenting on the album’s success, Martin Talbot, of the Official Charts Company, told the BBC: “Take That will have to go some to overtake Rockferry and establish Circus as the biggest-selling album of 2008, but it is not impossible.”
