BIFFY Clyro (pictured) and Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye are among the acts confirmed for this year’s Teenage Cancer Trust annual music and comedy gigs at the Royal Albert Hall.

An evening of comedy kicks off this 11th annual event on Monday, March 21, when Liverpudlian stand-up and comedy award winner, John Bishop, joins Edinburgh festival favourites and TV regulars Kevin Bridges and Greg Davies, plus other very special guests.

On Tuesday, March 22, Squeeze will be joined by an 18-piece orchestra giving a new twist to their inimitable South East London style. They will be joined by long-time friends and collaborators, The Feeling, who will be special guests on the night, alongside a few other surprise appearances.

Fresh from a February tour of the US and Canada, Scottish rock trio and Brit Award nominees Biffy Clyro play their first UK date of 2011 on Wednesday, March 23.

This is their second appearance for Teenage Cancer Trust, having first performed in 2006.

And following the phenomenal success of Quadrophenia for the Teenage Cancer Trust in 2010, Roger Daltrey CBE will perform The Who’s 1969 rock opera Tommy, as well as early hits including material from Live at Leeds, on Thursday, March 24.

On Friday, March 25, Liam Gallagher also returns to Teenage Cancer Trust’s stage after Oasis played in 2002, this time with new band Beady Eye, while an explosive live performance is guaranteed on Saturday, March 26 when Editors break from writing their fourth album and return to the live stage for the first time since completing their 2010 world tour.

The grand finale, meanwhile, comes on Sunday, March 27, when MOBO Award winning rapper Tinie Tempah plays his first appearance at the Royal Albert Hall.

Commenting on this year’s line-up, long-standing Teenage Cancer Trust patron Roger Daltrey CBE said: “These gigs have raised nearly £10 million in 10 years and they make a real difference to the lives of thousands of young people with cancer.

“We’ve had both legends and rising stars play for Teenage Cancer Trust over the years and 2011 is no different. I’m truly grateful to everyone for their support.”

Simon Davies, CEO of Teenage Cancer Trust, added: “Music plays a huge role in most young people’s lives, whatever they are going through, and it’s a big part of Teenage Cancer Trust.

“We’re immensely proud of these gigs which help us raise the money we need to give young people with cancer access to the best possible care and professional support.”
