The Counting Crows announce UK winter tour (2008)

The Counting Crows

Story by Jack Foley

THE Counting Crows will return to the UK this winter to play 10 dates in December, including a night at London’s Wembley Arena.

The band recently wowed fans at their headline show as part of this year’s Wireless Festival and look set to repeat the trick with a line-up that includes support from special guests Ben Folds and Mêlée.

Counting Crows can proudly lay claim a host of multiple platinum albums and Top 10 chart placings worldwide. They have been a huge presence in the music world since scoring a global hit with initial single Mr Jones to 2005’s Accidentally In Love from the Shrek 2 soundtrack, which saw the Californian band perform at the Academy Awards.

New album Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings saw the band split their musical personality, with the rocky Saturday Nights produced by Gil Norton (of Pixies and Foo Fighters fame) and the more acoustic Sunday Mornings portion being overseen by Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron and Wine).

The tour dates are (all December 2008):

2 – Newcastle Arena
4 – Nottingham Arena
5 – London Wembley Arena
7 – Manchester MEN Arena
8 – Cardiff International Arena
10 – Bournemouth BIC
11 – Brighton Centre
13 – Birmingham NEC Arena
14 – Sheffield Arena
18 – Glasgow SECC*

*Ben Folds will not appear as support for this date
