The Feeling recruit Trevor Horn for Hammersmith gig

The Feeling

Story by Jack Foley

TREVOR Horn, the man who wrote and performed the original version of Video Killed The Radio Star, joined The Feeling onstage in Hammersmith last night (November 4, 2008) for an amazing encore rendition of the song.

The crowd-pleasing moment capped a memorable set for the band, who are currently in the middle of an extensive UK tour.

Commenting on how they managed to pull off the special guest appearance, Feeling bassist Richard Jones said: “We bumped into him [Trevor] at an awards ceremony on Monday night.

“We’d met him before and we asked if he’d like to come along to the Hammersmith Apollo show. It turned out he was already planning to come with his family!

“He knows that we do the Video Killed The Radio Star cover, so we asked him if he’d like to join us on stage and do lead vocals. Amazingly, he agreed.

“We didn’t have time to rehearse it or anything, but it went really well – he even wore the original specs from the song’s video! It was definitely the cherry on top of an amazing show.”

Video Killed The Radio Star was a No 1 hit for Trevor Horn’s band The Buggles back in 1979. Trevor went on to become one of the world’s top producers working with everyone from ABC to Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Seal to Tina Turner.
