The Killers to headline extra Hyde Park Calling date (2009)

The Killers

Story by Jack Foley

THE Killers have just announced plans to play Hyde Park this summer, as part of an extra date being lined up for this year’s Hard Rock Calling Festival.

The Las Vegas outfit will join Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen as headliners of the three-day event.

Support comes from The Kooks, with this year’s festival now starting a day early, on Friday June 26, 2009.

Tickets for the new Friday date go on sale at 9am on Friday, April 3, with further acts for the day to be announced in due course. Springsteen’s date, meanwhile, sold out within hours, while there are still tickets available for Neil Young.

Springsteen will be supported by acts including Dave Matthews Band and The Gaslight Anthem, while Young’s line-up includes Fleet Foxes, Ben Harper, Seasick Steve and The Pretenders.

In what looks set to be a busy summer festival schedule for The Killers in the UK this summer, they will also play T in the Park in July and the V Festival in August.
