The Kooks bassist Rafferty leaves

The Kooks

Story by Jack Foley

MAX Rafferty, bassist for The Kooks, has left the band, it has been announced.

No reason has yet been given for his departure, which comes just 24 hours after the band announced a new UK tour.

The Kooks are one of the most popular new bands in Britain following the success of debut album Inside In/Inside Out and the top 10 hits Naive and She Moves In Her Own Way.

They are set to release their sophomore album Konk in April and have announced a 10-date tour in support of the LP, including two nights at London’s Brixton Academy in May.

The band has confirmed that it will play the shows, which begin in April, with stand-in bassist Dan Logan.

In what has proved a busy period since the 2006 release of their debut LP, The Kooks have supported the Rolling Stones and played at last year’s Glastonbury Festival. The schedule for 2008 looks set to be even more hectic.
