The La's reform and promise new album

The Las

Story by Jack Foley

THE La’s, the indie band behind seminal hit There She Goes, have reformed and are writing new material 19 years after their debut.

Having shot to superstardom off the back of the timeless There She Goes, the La’s disintegrated shortly after the release of their 1990 eponymous disc.

But almost 20 years on, frontman Lee Mavers has recruited Babyshambles guitarist Drew McConnell to replace original band member Lee Powers and the pair are due to hit the road for a summer tour, as well as delivering a sophomore album.

The songs have been written for the album, insists McConnell, but the band is in the process of recruiting a drummer and a guitar player.
