The Prodigy announce Brixton 'end of the world' shows (2012)

The Prodigy

Story by Jack Foley

THE Prodigy have announced two shows at London’s Brixton Academy in the run up to Christmas.

The dance act will play the iconic venue on December 18 and 19, 2012 in what they are billing as an ‘end of the world extravaganza’.

The concert has been called that because believers in an ancient Mayan prophecy say that the world will end on December 21, 2012 – so The Prodigy will be throwing the ultimate party.

A message from The Prodigy reads: “Yo my peoples… fired up to be bringing Warrior’s Dance back to the UK for its London debut at Brixton. We’re gonna finish 2012 in style with a mega line up of beats, bass n noise. We are coming home! Respect. Keef, Liam & Maxim.”

Support for the gigs comes from Caspa, Southcentral and Gedo Mega Bitch, as well as Jaguar Skills on December 18 and Araab Muzik on December 19.

In addition, the band will re-issue their classic album The Fat Of The Land on December 3.

The album, which sold over 10 million copies upon its release in 1997, will be re-issued in a package that will include a remix of Smack My Bitch Up by Major Lazer, as well as remixes from Noisia, Zeds Dead and Baauer.

They are also currently working on their sixth album, which has been given the working title How To Steal A Jet Fighter.
