The Rolling Stones sell out Hyde Park in three minutes
Story by Jack Foley
THE Rolling Stones have managed to sell out their Hyde Park gig this summer in just three minutes.
Tickets went on sale at 9am on Friday, April 5, and lasted only 180 seconds. Prices ranged from £95 to £300.
The legendary rockers will play the gig as part of the 10-day long Barclays British Summertime Festival on Saturday, July 6, 2013. The concert takes place almost 44 years to the day since the Stones first played Hyde Park.
Speaking about the ticket prices earlier this week, Mick Jagger joked: “There will still be room for a few free ones over the fence.”
As with ticket prices for the band’s O2 Arena concerts last year, held to mark their 50th anniversary, the high cost has upset many who could not afford them. But Jagger has continued to defend the cost, insisting that they are “sometimes quite a lot and sometimes not enough”.
The London gig comes a week after the Stones play Glastonbury for the first time.
