The Stranglers announce 30th anniversary show

The Stranglers

Story by Jack Foley

THIRTY years since they last appeared at London’s Roundhouse, The Stranglers will once more be appearing at the legendary venue as part of a UK tour also calling at Glasgow and Manchester.

With 32 top 40 hits spanning over four decades and numerous gold and platinum albums, The Stranglers remain true to form.

First gigging in 1975, the band’s straight talking approach was sometimes interpreted as aggressive and confrontational but their notoriety was embraced by the punk movement of 1977, breaking the debut single Grip, taken from their first album Rattus Norvegicus, and launching the band into public consciousness from thereon in.

Their latest album Suite XVI – released in 2006 – was their 16th studio album and also marked the beginning of another exciting chapter in the history of The Stranglers as the band returned to its classic four-piece format with bassist Jean-Jacques Burnel making a return to sharing lead vocals with guitarist Baz Warne. The distinctive keyboard sound of Dave Greenfield remains and Jet Black stays on drums.

The November tour dates are as follows…

1 – Glasgow ABC
3 – Manchester Academy
4 – London Roundhouse
