The Verve to reunite for winter tour

Story by Jack Foley

THE Verve are set to reunite for a winter tour, including two nights at the London Roundhouse.

The original band of lead singer Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe, Simon Jones and Pete Sailsbury will play together for the first time in nearly a decade.

The band confirmed in a statement that they were “getting back together for the joy of the music”. And they are also believed to be working on a new album, which they’ll complete after the summer.

The band broke up in 1999 following the release of their Urban Hymns album when reports blamed the tumultuous relationship between Ashcroft and McCabe.

But now that any differences have been cast aside, they will play a total of six dates (for now), beginning in Glasgow and ending in London in November.

The dates are (all November):

2-3 – Glasgow Academy
5-6 – Blackpool Empress Ballroom
8-9 – London Roundhouse

Tickets go on sale on July 6.
