Tom Jones to play free Olympics gig in Hyde Park (2012)

SIR Tom Jones is to headline a special FREE concert in London in celebration of the Olympic Games.

The singer will perform the special concert in Hyde Park on July 28, 2012 as part of a series of outdoor concerts and parties held across the UK to coincide with the sporting spectacular.

From July 27 to August 12 in Victoria Park, July 28 to August 11 in Hyde Park, and August 29 to September 9 in Trafalgar Square, BT London Live welcomes Londoners and visitors alike to watch The Games beamed live into the venues and enjoy an exciting range of entertainment.

BT London Live has something for everyone, from a variety of different live music acts to watching the 100 metres final on a 160m2 screen, the 55m high BT Observation Wheel giving views of the Olympic Park, amazing outdoor spectacles, have-a-go sports, bungee trampolining, Zip Lines and Zorbing, plus al-fresco Sports Bars and much more.

A great line up of artists are announced today, all presented by Absolute Radio & Magic 105.4.

They include: The Cast of We Will Rock You, Feeder, Dodgy, The Levellers, Cast, Amy Macdonald, Paul Carrack and Kenny Thomas.

Commenting on the series of events, London Mayor Boris Johnson said: “We’re presenting an unprecedented number of events to suit every taste and make this a summer like no other. It’s a fantastic way for hundreds of thousands of people to experience live Games action for free.”

Snow Patrol and Duran Duran are among the acts who will toast the opening of the Olympics with a live show on July 27, while a second concert – featuring Blur, New Order and The Specials – will mark the closing of the Games on August 12.
