Tori Kelly announces UK tour (2013)
Story by Jack Foley
FOLLOWING on from her sold out debut dates earlier this year and the announcement of her appearance at this year’s V Festival Tori Kelly makes a highly anticipated return to the UK with four headline tour dates this September.
A musical purist who began singing at age three and learned to play drums and guitar by the time she was 16, Kelly forgoes over-the-top production in favour of laying bare her natural musicianship and ingenuity in songwriting.
Released in May 2012, her debut release Handmade Songs featured six tracks performed entirely by Kelly (with the exception of her father’s contributions on bass). Handmade Songs quickly climbing to the top ten on the iTunes pop chart, Kelly soon started playing shows at local coffeehouses to build more support for her music.
Her very first coffee-house show was attended by Scooter Braun (manager for artists like Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen), who has since become a mentor for the singer/songwriter.
Tori Kelly will be touring the following cities this autumn (all September 2013):
11 – London O2 Academy Islington
12 – Birmingham O2 Academy 3
13 – Manchester Academy 3
15 – Glasgow King Tuts
Tickets are £11 (£13.50 London) and go on sale on Friday, July 5 at 9am.
