Travis announce intimate London date

Story by Jack Foley

TRAVIS are to play three very special live dates around the UK in March, including a night at Camden’s Koko.

The venues have been specially chosen in London, their hometown of Glasgow and Warrington and will mark the band’s first live dates since they played for Live 8 in London’s Hyde Park in 2005.

But they will give the band opportunity to road test new material from their forthcoming fifth album, The Boy With No Name, which is due for release on May 7.

According to Xfm, the album’s name is an apparent nod to singer Fran Healey’s son, Clay, who wasn’t named until a few weeks after his birth.

The album will be Travis’s first since 2003’s 12 Memories and will be produced by Nigel Godrich, who previously worked with them on The Man Who and The Invisible Band‘ as well as with Radiohead and Beck.

The lead single from the album will be Closer and that will hit record shops on April 23.

The three dates are:

Tuesday, March 20 – Koko, Camden
Wednesday, March 21 – Glasgow ABC
Thursday, March 22 – Warrington Parr Hall.

Tickets are currently on sale – but expected to sell fast.
