Tricky announces London Barbican date (2008)

Story by Jack Foley

TRICKY will be performing at the Barbican in London on Monday, October 6, 2008.

The Knowle West boy returns with his first live show in the UK in over five years, playing songs spanning across his astonishing career since his 1995 debut Maxinquaye and Tricky’s most autobiographical album to date – Knowle West Boy, out on July 7.

A pivotal artist of his generation and one of Britain’s most prized musical assets, Tricky’s return is now more relevant than ever.

Giving voice to his inner city past yet representing the swirl of world influences in modern day, his new album is like a personal mixtape embracing jazz, punk, Two-Tone, pure pop and trip hop, all channeled through Tricky’s signature singular vision.

Accompanied by his amazing band and with a host of undiscovered and well known singers, Tricky will be in fitting surroundings in the Barbican. Both are atmospheric, iconic, confrontational, intrinsically out of place yet undeniably part of the urban landscape.

This show will be a must see for Tricky fans old and new.
