Story by Jack Foley

UNKLE – aka James Lavelle and Richard File – have announced an all-star line-up of guests for their forthcoming Brixton Academy show on Saturday, March 1, 2008.

Ian Brown, Badly Drawn Boy and Leila Moss will also appear at the gig, which includes special support from Zoot Woman and DJs Sebastian and Mr Flash (Ed Banger) .

James Lavelle comments: “We have a guest from each era of UNKLE’s recording history joining us for our London, Brixton Academy show on March 1.

“Badly Drawn Boy, from Psyence Fiction, Ian Brown, who bridged the time between Psyence Fiction and Never Never Land, and Leila Moss, from Duke Spirit, who provides the vocal for Mayday on War Stories.

“With Zoot Woman as main support and Sebastian and Mr Flash from Ed Banger playing after UNKLE live until 2am, it’s going to be an amazing night.”

UNKLE’s third album, War Stories, follows the worldwide success of 1998’s Psyence Fiction and 2003’s Never, Never, Land and once again finds the collective drawing on rock, electronic and beat-driven music in new ways.

It’s a 14-track collection of songs that finds Lavelle once again uniting with producer Richard File and working with producer Chris Goss (Queens of the Stone Age, Desert Sessions, Masters of Reality). It features collaborations with Ian Astbury (The Cult), Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age) and 3D (Massive Attack) plus acclaimed garage fivepiece The Duke Spirit, LA art-rockers Autolux and Clayhill’s Gavin Clark.

“I wanted to combine the depth of an electronic record with the dynamics of a rock record. It was a totally organic, free experience. Every UNKLE record has had its amazing moments but this was the record I felt most in tune with– the most rewarding recording experience,” concludes Lavelle.
