Story by Jack Foley

KINGS of Leon and Beyonce have been announced as the first two headliners for this year’s V Festival.

According to organisers, Beyonce will make her only European festival appearance of the summer at the event, which takes place at Weston Park, Staffordshire and Hylands Park, Essex on August 17 and 18, 2013.

Also on the bill are Emeli Sande, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, The Script, Two Door Cinema Club, Beady Eye, Calvin Harris, The Vaccines, Olly Murs, Paloma Faith, Rita Ora, Fun, Jessie Ware, Gabrielle Aplin and Rudimental.

James Arthur, the winner of the 2012 series of The X Factor, will perform as will former winners of the show Little Mix.

Festival director Simon Moran said: “With our line-up already boasting acts including Beyonce, Kings Of Leon and Emeli Sande, the 18th annual V Festival is once again set to be an unmissable weekend.

“We have a reputation for bringing fans the best world class acts and breakthrough artists, 2013 is set to be another sensational year.”

The V announcement comes days after Beyonce’s headline UK arena tour sold out last week. The US singer will play a run of shows, including London’s O2 Arena in April.

Tickets for this year’s V Festival go on general sale at 9am on Friday, March 1, with more acts to be announced soon.
