War Child concert: Does It Offend You Yeah? on bill

Does It Offend You Yeah

Story by Jack Foley

DOES It Offend You Yeah? and The Rumble Strips will play live at a benefit gig for the War Child charity at London’s Scala on May 29, 2008.

They will be joined by Kid Harpoon, Autokratz and Edward J Hicks.

The fundraising event, entitled Army Of You, will also feature a host of DJs spinning tunes, with more bands set to be announced soon.

Proceeds from the event will go to War Child, the charity that works with children in war-affected areas across the world.

War Child wants to ensure that all children affected by war can get access to their rights as set out in the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child. To do this the charity listens to children and their communities and develops programmes to support them. But without the support of the public, it couldn’t do any of it.

Campaigns aim to raise awareness and encourage action on the issues facing children marginalised by conflict – from access to education to local governannce.

With the public’s support the charity is able to pay for projects that help the children it works with and put pressure on local and international decision makers.

War Child is the only international child protection agency working in south Iraq. It is currently seeking to raise £1.5m to continue its work with children there. Find out more
