Wet Wet Wet announce UK tour (2007)

Wet Wet Wet

Story by Jack Foley

WET Wet Wet have announced plans for a tour of the UK to mark 20 years since their first hit.

The Scottish stars – led by Marti Pellow – enjoyed numerous chart hits in the ’80s and ’90s including Goodnight Girl, Sweet Little Mystery and Love Is All Around (the theme to hit movie Four Weddings & A Funeral).

They will play a number of dates in December (2007), including London’s Wembley Arena, to accompany a new album.

Further dates include nights in Belfast, Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Aberdeen and Newcastle.

Wet Wet Wet split in 1999 but reformed in 2004 for several reunion shows. As well as lead singer Pellow, they’re comprised of Graeme Clark, Tommy Cunningham and Neil Mitchell.

They were formed in Clydebank in the 1980s and scored their first number one with Wishing I Was Lucky in 1987.

Their biggest hit remains 1994’s Love Is All Around, which was later parodied by actor Bill Nighy in another romantic comedy hit, Love Actually. The original remained at the top of the charts for 15 weeks.

Tickets for the tour are due to go on sale on January 19.

The dates are as follows (all December 2007)...

6 – Sheffield Arena
