Xfm Winter Wonderland 2007: Bloc Party and Supergrass in bill

Bloc Party

Story by Jack Foley

BLOC Party, Kate Nash and Supergrass have been confirmed to play Xfm’s Winter Wonderland gig at London’s Brixton Academy in December, as the radio station looks to bring together some of the hottest acts in the UK for four star studded live events throughout the UK.

This year’s Xfm Winter Wonderland gigs will light up venues in Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff and London across four consecutive nights, with all proceeds going to Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity.

The event will be hosted by Xfm DJs from around the network including Alex Zane, Julyan Sinclair and Jason Manford and will be broadcast live and exclusively across the Xfm network including exclusive backstage gossip and interviews.

The line-up so far is as follows (with some surprise acts still to be confirmed)...

London – December 9, Brixton Academy
Kate Nash
Supergrass
Bloc Party

Glasgow – December 10, Glasgow Academy
Stereophonics
The Twang
Figure Five

Manchester – December 11, Manchester Apollo
The Charlatans
The Courteneers
The Ting Tings

Cardiff – December, 12, Cardiff University
Super Furry Animals
The Enemy
Kids In Glass Houses

Opening the events in London, Manchester and Glasgow will be the winners of Xfm’s Rock School, a month long search on three of the stations to find the three best school rock bands in the UK.

Xfm’s Winter Wonderland is Xfm’s flagship Christmas event and last year’s event raised thousands of pounds for Shelter.

Tickets are £25 in London and £20 in Manchester and Scotland and are available via the Xfm Xchange 0871 222 1049 or by logging on to www.xfm.co.uk/winterwonderland
