Marvel Avengers Assemble

CLARK Gregg is to reprise his role as Agent Phil Coulson in Joss Whedon’s ABC pilot S.H.I.E.L.D.

The casting news was confirmed by Marvel on Saturday at New York Comic-Con.

Gregg has played the character in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor and voiced the role in Disney XD’s Ultimate Spider-Man before finally meeting his maker as part of The Avengers this summer.

The casting brings Agent Coulson back to life – and is very welcome news.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is based on the long-running comic created by Jack Kirby and revolves around the secret military law enforcement agency of the same name.

Whedon is co-penning the pilot alongside his brother Jed Whedon and Jed’s wife Maurissa Tancharoen.

He has also agreed to direct The Avengers 2.
