SLUMDOG Millionaire co-star and Bollywood sensation Anil Kapoor is to join the eighth season of real-time TV drama 24 as a regular, it has been confirmed.

Kapoor, who plays the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? game show host on Danny Boyle’s Oscar-winning movie, will play a Middle Eastern leader who comes to the US on a peacemaking mission.

As usual, further plot details are sketchy, but 24‘s creators look determined to maintain the resurgence in quality and star power that has come with the show’s critically-acclaimed seventh day (now showing on Sky 1 on Monday nights).

Aside from his Slumdog success, which brought him to the international stage, Kapoor is a Bollywood icon who has appeared in more than 100 films in his native India.

The actor recently signed a deal with ICM that should bring him further movie and small screen offers.

Kiefer Sutherland is to reprise his role as CTU agent Jack Bauer in the eighth season of 24.
