Aaron Sorkin outlines new TV show for HBO

OSCAR nominated writer Aaron Sorkin has been revealing some of the details fort his new pilot for HBO – a show that marks his long awaited return to TV following his success with Facebook movie The Social Network.
More As The Story Develops (a working title) will focus on the employees of a nightly cable news show and will be similar in style to Sorkin’s previous TV programmes.
The writer told TV Guide: “It’ll be a new series for HBO that will take place behind the scenes – for a change – at a nightly news show, where they have made a decision to try to do the news well.”
Describing it as both “aspirational” and “wish fulfilment”, he did counter that the team would lose as much as they win, thereby removing the prospect of it being pure fantasy.
“They’re going to be trying to do well in a context where it’s very difficult to do well when there are commercial concerns and political concerns and corporate concerns,” he added.
Sorkin went on to say that he is ‘loving’ the idea of returning to the small screen and once again the areas of ‘idealism, romanticism and realism’ that helped to turn shows like The West Wing into such a critical success – albeit this time with a focus on journalism rather than politics.
