Agatha Raisin: Series One

Preview by Jack Foley

Following the success of the stand-alone Christmas special Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death (2014), Ashley Jensen (Extras, Ugly Betty) returns as PR-guru-turned-amateur-sleuth Agatha Raisin, in a brand new series.

This exuberant, fun-packed murder mystery features eight stories based on MC Beaton’s best-selling novels.

Following its run on Sky One, Agatha Raisin: Series One comes to DVD on August 1, 2016, courtesy of RLJ Entertainment’s Acorn Label and includes the original feature length movie.

High-flying PR whizz Agatha Raisin has decided to take her foot off the gas. Having spent years slaving away, forging a successful career in London, the 40-something singleton has hit the refresh button and moved on to pastures new.

She relocates to the tiny village of Carsely in the Cotswolds, which ticks all the boxes: peaceful, stress-free, easy. However, her hopes of a quiet life are dashed when! a! spate! of! murders! start! occurring! in! the village. Drawn into the mysteries, amateur sleuth Agatha attempts to solve the crimes – often in a very unorthodox way.

This brand new eight-part series sees the return of Gavin & Stacey’s Mathew Horne (Bad Education) as Agatha’s best friend Roy. Katy Wix (Not Going Out, The Windsors), also reprises her role as Agatha’s cleaner Gemma, while Jamie Glover (Waterloo Road, Holby City) returns as her on-off love interest, James.
