Allison Janney joins Chuck Lorre's Mom comedy pilot
Story by Jack Foley
ALLISON Janney has joined the cast of new Chuck Lorre comedy pilot Mom.
The former West Wing luminary joins Anna Faris in the multi-camera pilot and will play her mother, Bonnie.
Faris takes the lead as a newly sober single mom who tries to pull her life together in Napa Valley, California’s famous wine region.
Lorre, whose TV credits include Two And A Half Men, will pen the pilot alongside frequent collaborators Eddie Gorodetsky and Gemma Baker.
If ordered to series, the role would mark Janney’s latest foray into television following her most recent appearance in Matthew Perry’s short-lived half-hour comedy Mr. Sunshine.
On the big screen, Janney recently starred in two Sundance Film Festival entries – Lynn Shelton’s Touchy Feely and Nat Faxon and Jim Rash’s The Way, Way Back, the latter of which was eventually acquired for distribution by Fox Searchlight for $9.75 million following a bidding war.
