Amy Adams to star in Sharp Objects

The Fighter

Story by Jack Foley

AMY Adams is heading to television to star in Sharp Objects.

The high-profile project is an adaptation of the book by Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn that will be directed by Jean-Marc Vallee, of Dallas Buyers Club fame.

Published in 2006, Sharp Objects follows reporter Camille Preaker (to be played by Adams) as she faces a troubling assignment not long after returning from a brief stay at a psychiatric hospital.

Camille must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two pre-teen girls.

The return brings her back into contact with her neurotic, hypochondriac mother as well as the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful 13-year-old who holds an eerie grip on the town.

Installed in her old bedroom in her family’s Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too strongly and must unravel the ensuing psychological puzzle while battling her own continuing demons. The ensuing conflict becomes a battle for survival.

Adams will next be seen on the big screen in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
