FESTIVE specials of Call The Midwife and The Royle Family are among BBC1’s Christmas television line-up.
The former show will see Jessica Raine, Miranda Hart and Pam Ferris reunited for a one-off story ahead of the full second season in January. Early rumours suggest it could air on Christmas Day and may overlap Downton Abbey.
Other festive highlights include a new series of Miranda, David Attenborough’s latest project, Africa and Doctor Who episode The Snowmen.
There will also be Christmas and New Year specials of Top of the Pops, an Olympics-themed version of sports entertainment series Superstars and a seasonal edition of Strictly Come Dancing.
Downton star Hugh Bonneville is among the star-studded ensemble of David Walliams adaptation of Mr Stink, which also stars Walliams, Sheridan Smith, Johnny Vegas and Pudsey the dog.
While another star-studded drama sees Hayley Atwell, Rufus Sewell, Michael Gambon, Michelle Dockery and Charlotte Rampling among the cast of William Boyd’s drama Restless.
And Victoria Wood returns in Loving Miss Hatto, a new drama based on an article in the New Yorker magazine about an ordinary couple who manage to pull off the greatest fraud in classical music history.
