Call The Midwife renewed for third season

BBC One’s record-breaking hit drama series Call The Midwife will return for a Christmas special in 2013 and a third series in 2014.

The show has turned out to be the biggest new drama series on BBC One in over a decade and the second series currently on air is averaging a consolidated series average so far of 10.6 million viewers.

The third season will comprise eight 60-minute episode and will once again be written by Heidi Thomas.

It will take place in 1959 on the eve of the swinging Sixties, as the winds of change are sweeping through the country and the residents of Nonnatus House face some momentous changes of their own.
