Camelot will not get a second season

Story by Jack Foley

CAMELOT has been axed by Starz, it seems.

The conteporary re-telling of the Arthurian legend starring Joseph Fiennes, Jamie Campbell Bower and Eva Green has failed to make the grade in the wake of bigger audience hits such as “Game of Thrones”: and The Killing.

Announcing the decision, Starz – the makers of the show – said that production costs meant that the show was no longer viable in such a competitive marketplace.

A statement read: ““Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of Camelot with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions.”

Starz originally had high hopes for Camelot and even enjoyed its largest ever opening for a new drama in early April in the US. But since then, it has struggled to break out amid largely negative reviews.

Channel 4 is currently airing the first season as part of its Saturday night line-up.
