Channel 4 commissions torture drama Complicit
Story by Jack Foley
A NEW drama about torture, entitled Complicit, has been commissioned by Channel 4.
To be broadcast later this year, the one-off drama will focus on an MI5 officer named Edward working in the Middle East. The ensuing drama is expected to examine the moral dilemmas Edward faces surrounding the use of torture and will be set against the backdrop of the Arab Spring.
Complicit has been written by Guy Hibbert, whose previous work includes Omagh and Five Minutes of Heaven, and is described by Jay Hunt, chief executive officer of Channel 4, as the type of drama that “shows us a hidden world we think we know in an entirely original way”.
It will also take viewers “straight to the core of one of the greatest dilemmas of our age”.
