Channel 4 explains New Girl break

New Girl

Story by Jack Foley

CHANNEL 4 has promised that hit US comedy New Girl will return later this year.

A spokesman for the broadcaster told Digital Spy website that the Zooey Deschanel sitcom has been on hiatus in order for “additional content to premiere”.

“It will be back,” the rep said. “But it hasn’t been officially scheduled yet so [we] can’t be specific [on] dates. We know you guys love New Girl and we love it too.

“The mid-season break is simply to allow for additional Channel 4 content to premiere. Jess (Deschanel) and the guys will be back later in the year, when New Girl will play out in full.”

New Girl was recently renewed for a second season in the US and has proved a big hit on both sides of the Atlantic. It used to air on Channel 4 on Friday nights from 8.30pm.
