EMMY and Oscar winning actress Christine Lahti has been booked for a recurring role in the third season of Hawaii Five-O.
The former Chicago Hope luminary will play Doris McGarrett, the presumed-dead mother of Alex O’Loughlin’s Steve McGarrett, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Announcing the appointment in a statement on Tuesday, Peter Lenkov, executive producer of Hawaii Five-O said: “The mysterious character of Doris McGarrett is a pivotal one to the mythology of our show. We are thrilled to have a seasoned and beloved actress such as Christine to portray her.
“She’s a wonderful addition to the H50 family, and the fans will certainly enjoy what we have in store for her. Let’s just say that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
Lahti won her Oscar in 1996 for directing the live-action short winner Lieberman in Love. She also received a best supporting actress nomination for 1984’s Swing Shift.
A six-time Emmy nominee, Lahti also won in 1998 for playing Dr. Kathryn Austin on Chicago Hope.
She has further earned SAG and Golden Globe nominations for her performance in Jack & Bobby. And is a fan favourite for her work on Law & Order: SVU.
