CLAYNE Crawford is to play suicidal cop Martin Riggs in Fox’s Lethal Weapon pilot.

The Rectify and 24 alum will star opposite Damon Wayans Sr. in the drama pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Wayans has previously been signed up to play Roger Murtaugh.

The two actors will step into the shoes once worn by Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in the Warner Bros film series, which ran to four movies.

Fast & Furious luminary Jordana Brewster is also on board, as is Golden Brooks and Kevin Rahm, of TV’s Justified.

Based on the original feature film of the same name, the pilot will reportedly commence as Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs (Crawford) suffers the loss of his wife and baby, prompting him to move to Los Angeles to start afresh.

Once there, he finds himself partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh, who, having recently suffered a minor heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life.

The Lethal Weapon reboot is being devised by Matt Miller (of Chuck and Forever fame).

McG will direct the pilot, which marks a reunion for the director and Miller after the duo previously teamed on NBC’s successful Chuck.
