Clive Russell cast as Brynden Blackfish Tully in Game of Thrones

BRITISH actor Clive Russell is the first new addition for Game of Thrones‘ upcoming third season.
The former Coronation Street star has landed the plumb role of Brynden ‘The Blackfish’ Tully.
The Blackfish is Catelyn Stark’s uncle, whose skills as a warrior are of great use to Robb Stark in his continuing war efforts with the Lannisters.
In addition to Corrie, Russell is widely known for roles in Boys From The Blackstuff, Silent Witness and Cracker.
He is also known for playing Captain Tanner in the recent Sherlock Holmes movies.
The casting announcement is the first of what’s expected to be several new additions to the show, which will be adapted from parts of George R R Martin’s A Storm of Swords book.
It has already been announced that season three will welcome new characters including Edmure Tully, Mance Rayder, Daario Naharis, Myranda Royce, Lady Selyse Florent and Jojen Reed and Meera Reed. Find out more
Game of Thrones season three will air in 2013 on HBO in the US and on Sky Atlantic in the UK. It will run to 10 episodes.
