Cougar Town future in doubt as ABC cuts back
Story by Jack Foley
THE long-term future of Courteney Cox comedy Cougar Town is in doubt now that ABC has reduced its episode order for the third season and delayed its launch date.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has now only committed to producing 15 episodes rather than the original 22 that were planned for the comedy’s third season.
It has also previously planned to launch it mid-season but Cougar Town was conspicuous by its absence from that schedule when it was unveiled on Friday (November 18, 2011).
Sources did move to reassure fans that the network still believes in the show but the series has continually faced a battle to retain ratings and has frequently been moved around in the schedule in a bid to give it more prominence.
In the UK it airs on Sky Living. Read our review of Season 1
