Dallas renewed for second season

THE reboot of Dallas has been given a second season after proving a ratings hit for TNT in America.

Announcing the decision on Friday (June 29, 2012), Michael Wright, president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), said: “Dallas has been a success for us on every level: pitch-perfect writing, smart directing and buzz-worthy performances by a new generation of stars and their iconic counterparts.

“With Dallas‘ top-flight ratings, robust growth through time-shifted viewing and the extensive online buzz, it’s clear the Ewings of Southfork have once again captured the imagination of viewers.”

So far in its first season, Dallas has become the top new scripted drama for the cable channel despite lukewarm initial reviews. Find out more

It stars series newcomers Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo and Brenda Strong as well as several returning original cast members, including Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray.

The first season is due to be aired in the UK on Channel 5 from September.
