David Jason to play former dock worker for ITV
Story by Jack Foley
DAVID Jason is to play a former dock worker in new ITV1 drama, Come Rain Come Shine.
The popular TV star will line up alongside Alison Steadman (Pride & Prejudice) as a retired couple whose family are facing financial ruin.
The two-hour drama will be a one-off presentation and marks Jason’s first role since he quit A Touch of Frost.
Commenting on what to expect, Jeff Pope – who wrote Come Rain Come Shine – said that Jason had initially been “nervous of playing Cockney characters” again after playing Del Boy Trotter.
“But I think he felt the chance to say something about the kind of reckless reliance on credit that has almost brought us to our knees was too good to miss,” he added.
Jason had played Detective Inspector Jack Frost for 18 years prior to his decision to quite. The final episode, which aired in April, attracted an audience of 8 million.
