Dexter's eighth season looking increasingly like its last

Dexter: Season 7

Story by Jack Foley

DEXTER looks set to be concluded after its forthcoming eighth season.

CBS Corp. CEO Les Moonves appeared to have let slip the decision when pressed by analysts at a Wall Street conference on Monday in Palm Beach.

The question had been regarding what was in the pipeline for the channel, to which Moonves replied: “We have Ray Donovan coming on with Liev Schreiber, which comes on with Dexter‘s last season starting in June and then we have Masters of Sex.”

Although officials at Showtime have yet to officially announce the decision, the series wrap up has been on the cards ever since the events of Dexter‘s seventh season – currently airing on Fox in the UK – were set into motion.

A spokesman for Showtime told The Hollywood Reporter on Monday that nothing had been confirmed but show personnel have long been keen to quit while on top of the serial killer drama.

It is also thought that the final seasons of Dexter are being used as a launching pad for Ray Donovan, which Moonves’ comments would appear to confirm.
