Don Johnson lands new TV pilot as hairdresser
Story by Jack Foley
DON Johnson has landed the lead role in Michael Patrick King’s new NBC pilot A. Mann’s World.
The former Miami Vice star will play Allan Mann, a Beverly Hills hairdresser and salon owner who is described as being similar to Warren Beatty in Shampoo.
The show will follow the character, now in his ’50s, as he struggles to stay relevant.
It will explore men’s struggle with aging and a businessman’s refusal to give up in the current economic climate. Johnson’s character will also be struggling to support three families.
Sex & The City‘s Michael Patrick King serves as the show’s executive producer and has also written the pilot, which he will also direct.
Joining Johnson in the cast is Taylor Kinney, of The Vampire Diaries fame (he played a werewolf).
